Why Wild Dragon Solutions

China sourcing with an engineer's eye.

China has enormous manufacturing capability. The challenge is knowing where to look, what questions to ask, how to verify a supplier and how to make sure the finished part actually meets the requirements.

Wild Dragon Solutions bridges that gap. We combine hands-on UK engineering and manufacturing experience with years of sourcing, factory visits and trade-show activity in China.

We also have trusted associates throughout China, from Guangdong province in the south to Heilongjiang in the north and everywhere in between. If something needs checking locally, we have the capability to send someone we trust to visit and report back.

The objective is simple: better component prices, reliable quality, fewer layers of margin and a supply chain you understand.

Independent audits can also be arranged to cover areas such as good working practices, accounts, ethical practices and health and safety, helping ensure the companies we work with are fully compliant.

Factory assessment

Not all Chinese factories are equal.

These photographs show the difference we look for when assessing manufacturing capability. Modern equipment is only part of the picture — process control, housekeeping, inspection, traceability and engineering discipline matter too.

What we want to see

Modern, organised production

Clean, well-organised machining areas, modern CNC equipment, defined production routes and sensible material handling are positive signs. We then go further: checking inspection equipment, process capability, drawings, tooling, records and the people actually making the parts.

Where we look closer

Legacy equipment & less controlled workshops

Older machinery does not automatically mean poor quality. Some excellent parts can be produced on older equipment. But these environments require much more scrutiny around machine condition, repeatability, inspection, maintenance, operator skill and process control before they are considered for UK supply.

Our approach: we don't simply find a low quotation. We look for the right combination of capability, quality, price, capacity, communication and compliance.
What we source

From individual components to complete machines.

A broad engineering background means we can source technically demanding products, not just catalogue items.

01

Engineering components

CNC machined parts, aluminium castings, steel forgings and plastic components.

02

Trailer components

Wheels, tyres, axles, lighting, brakes, couplings, jockey wheels and leaf springs.

03

Caravan & campervan

Insulation, sound deadening, toilets, sinks, taps, pumps, UV filters, AGM and lithium batteries, routers, fridges, windows, roof lights and roof tents.

04

Hydraulics

Hydraulic cylinders, power packs and associated components.

05

Industrial machinery

Laser cutting machines, panel benders, press brakes, routers, laser welders, pipe benders and rotomoulding tooling.

06

Power & engines

Diesel engines, alternators, generators, generator controllers, fuel and oil filtration.

07

Electrical

PCBs, wiring, fans, switchgear and household fittings.

08

Marine & stainless

Stainless-steel marine fittings and other specialist fabricated or machined products.

09

Cycling

As keen cyclists, we can also source many high-end bikes, frames, wheels and other bike components.

How it works

A practical route from drawing to delivery.

01

Understand

Review your drawing, specification, volumes, target price and regulatory requirements.

02

Source

Identify suitable Chinese manufacturers using engineering knowledge and factory experience.

03

Verify

Assess capability, equipment, quality systems, capacity, processes and commercial suitability.

04

Sample

Coordinate prototypes, first-off parts, testing and design changes before production.

05

Supply

Manage the relationship and keep quality, cost, lead time and communication under control.

Assisted China visits

Want to visit China yourself?

We can help UK companies get much more from a trip to China — whether the objective is a factory audit, meeting potential suppliers or attending a trade show.

Factory visitsArrange and support visits to shortlisted manufacturers.
Trade showsHelp plan meetings and make the most of major Chinese engineering and manufacturing exhibitions.
Travel & toursWe can book flights, trains, taxis — sometimes driverless! — hotels and any tours too.
On-the-ground supportEngineering-focused communication, translation support and practical guidance during the visit.
Engineering experience

You are dealing with an engineer, not just a sourcing agent.

Degree-qualified in Engineering from one of the UK's leading engineering universities, with more than three decades working in UK manufacturing.

Experience spans design engineering, CNC programming, 3D CAD, FEA, design management, engineering leadership, DFM, Lean manufacturing, quality management, value engineering and international sourcing.

Work has also included ISO 9001 quality systems, VCA trailer compliance, technical committees and EU standards groups.
